Ann-Scott Ettinger

Create Community

Ann-Scott Ettinger came to UUCS in search of a liberal community, and immediately jumped in and got involved. A self-described “action person,” she first started working in RE, creating community while learning about Unitarian Universalism. As her children grew, Ann-Scott began building adult programs, organizing fundraising dinner events, and developing cooking activities. The Saturday UU cooking group grew out of an Ethical Eating class she co-led, and continues today as a close-knit group of members and non-members alike. Ann Scott’s auction donations bring people into our church community, and some couples attend the same dinners year after year. She sees even her work as this year’s board president as another opportunity for creating community. “I’ve always felt you have to put your own energy out there to connect; you can’t just expect to be automatically enveloped.”
