Work for Justice

Owen Mir is an early adopter of environmental awareness, discovering recycling 45 years ago while in the service. He continues as a steward of the earth during his 35 years as a member of this church.  Owen is an institution at UUCS the first Sunday of every month – filling his station wagon with recyclables and reusable items brought by congregants. When the city of Spokane increased its recycling program, the recycling work at the church diminished, but Owen continues to staff his post winter and summer, rain or shine.  Promoting a smaller environmental footprint in our church community as well as the wider world is how Owen Mir works for justice.
