About the Winter Solstice Singing Ritual

The Longest Night is right around the corner and so is our Winter Solstice Singing Ritual!!  The official date is Monday, December 21st and we are having the ritual that evening at 7pm.  You will get a special email from the church with the link to this “Zoom” service, so be sure to watch for that.   For your viewing pleasure AND participation, it IS important that you do some things in advance!

  1. Be sure to have a new candle on hand (a votive usually works best) AND some kind of a safe holder for it. A votive holder seems safer, makes the candle easier to handle AND will surely catch any hot wax.
  2. Have matches or a lighter near the candle, and make sure candle and lighting tools are on a level, stable surface near where you’ll be sitting to Zoom.
  3. Make sure that you have the link for the service.  (See above)  Please mute yourself during the ritual, and limit any chat to getting help with tech things if need be. Please save any other comments until AFTER the service!
  4. Check to be sure that you know how to change the volume on your computer speakers in advance in case they need some adjustment  during the service. (I had to have someone show me where to look on my new computer, so don’t be shy about asking someone in advance if you do not know where it is!)
  5. Dress in your favorite festive things just to “make the season bright.”
  6. Have your favorite goodies and drinks ready in advance so you can enjoy celebrating with other church members afterwards!

I’m hoping we all can really ENJOY THIS EVENING!   This will be a different experience from our usual Solstice service, but richer in some ways…

Can’t wait to see  you all there!

In anticipation,
