Virtual Children’s Chapel on Sundays

Stephanie Getman Gronholz is delighted to begin her work as the Religious Education Specialist at UUCS. She has worked at a variety of schools for the past 15 years — at large high schools and middle schools in Denver, a small parent partnership school in Spokane Valley, a charter school in downtown Spokane, a dance school, and most recently, a home-school co-op hosted in her basement — and believes in empowering children to think and care deeply. As a member of the church and the mother of an 8-year-old, she is invested in helping our children have meaningful church experiences.

Once we are back to in-person services, Stephanie will be facilitating a weekly Children’s Chapel for young people between the approximate ages of 4 and 12. The Children’s Chapel will include community-building rituals, hands-on activities that connect with the Sunday sermon, and time for socializing (and snacking!). Other programs, such as Our Whole Lives (OWL) and Neighboring Faiths, are important elements of religious education and will be offered as we are able.

Until then, we will hold virtual Children’s Chapels on a regular (and not necessarily weekly) basis, starting Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom. Check the weekly church Zoom link email of January 19, 2021 to get the link.

For our first Children’s Chapel, we will have fun getting to know one another and learning about how to make our values visible! This event is intended for children between the ages of 4 and 12, but all are welcome.

Please let Stephanie know if you have any questions or ideas. She would love to hear them! You can reach her at re@usspokane.org.
