Come to church and hear our new Interim Pianist, Maura Kegley! I am so grateful to Nancy Avery for making the initial contact for us. Nancy knows Maura through the Spectrum Singers, as she was their accompanist until COVID got in the way. Maura has many fine skill sets as a soloist and an accompanist. She has played for many churches in the Spokane area. She has also played background music for Patsy Clark and similar places, so she has a wide repertoire. And for those of you who remember Herb & Billie Seiverson, Maura was a friend of theirs for years. I am so grateful for the breathing room that she provides as I continue the search for a permanent pianist.

And … it is time once again to think about our annual Winter Solstice observance, which will happen on Tuesday, December 21 as a Zoom service. I had really wanted to do a live service and a Zoom service for those who would find it more comfortable to be home this year, but COVID has once again made it impossible to rehearse a Solstice Singers choir this fall. So … we will do the Zoom service as a standalone, time to be announced a bit later on.

I would like, though, to extend an invitation for readers for the Solstice service. We already have our excellent Narrator, Ann Wenger, who got rave reviews last year! And we need four readers for other spots in the service. We have excellent people who have done these roles in the past, but I would also like to open it up to any new people who might like to audition. Please contact me at uumusic@uuspokane.org or call the church at 509-325-6383 to catch me or leave a message.
