Guest Speaker Joe King is the former Speaker of the House of the Washington State Legislature. During the time that King was Speaker, he worked successfully with the Republican controlled senate. During this time, the legislature passed the Growth Management Plan and the Washington State Basic Health plan, making Washington the first state in the union to have a state sponsored primary health care plan for working families. He and his wife Kelsey Gray have resided in Spokane for five years and joined the Spokane Unitarian Universalist church three years ago.
