Well, Rev. Todd has done it again! Last week he spoke on prayer—and would you believe that in over 30 years as your Music Director, no settled minister in our church had given a sermon on that topic before??? I was searching for music about prayer for the first time in my career! An interesting search for me it certainly was, and this week is no less so! Humor—especially as it relates to political correctness—is the topic, and it required a lot of searching on YouTube plus a bit of courage to do the “in your face” music that you will hear before the sermon on this coming Sunday! I will not give away the title, but I will say that I’m pretty sure that you would definitely not hear this song in almost any other church! And for a bit of silly fun at the end of the service, I will also sing a 1943 song for the Postlude, “Mairzy Doats.” How many of you have heard of that one?
For Sunday, February 14, you will be treated to Michelina’s lovely piano selections for your hearts’ sake. I’m giving her free rein to pick and choose, so we’ll all be surprised together!
By the way, I have very much enjoyed your comments about the music over the last three weeks or so—and I do pass on the compliments to those that do our music. Please feel free to email or call me with any suggestions, compliments or even “complaints.” Your feedback is so appreciated and necessary to keep our music program on track. Your Music Director,
Deborah Jacquemin
