Meaningful Movie for November

Don’t miss our Meaningful Movie for November, Youth v Gov, the story of
America’s youth working to stop climate change. In combination with Dr. Pat McCormick’s message from the pulpit on November 7, Code Red: Why and How to Address the Climate Crisis from a Faith Perspective, November is turning out to be the Month of the Environment at UUCS.

Our film tells the story of the 2015 lawsuit filed by twenty-one young plaintiffs, against the U.S. government for violating their constitutional rights to life, liberty, personal safety, and property through their willful actions in creating the climate crisis they will inherit. Empowered youth find their voices and fight to protect their rights and our future. Our nation’s youth is speaking out, holding those in power accountable for their actions and leading the rest of us to fight for a sustainable future.

On November 17, we will be showing the 2-hour long movie at 5:30 p.m. on Zoom, followed by discussion at 7:30 p.m. with local activists, George Taylor and youths from Sunrise Spokane, whose first principle reads as follows:

“We unite to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people.”
