We have some sad news from our partners in Felsőrákos. You may remember that Rev. Palkó and his wife Orsolya have been living apart because of their jobs in different towns. We have received the following letter from them:
Unfortunately, I have to tell you some bad news. Yesterday, after the Sunday service, I gave my resignation. Which means I’ve given up my job as a pastor in Felsőrákos. Recently, Orsolya and I have been thinking a lot about how to move forward, and also about how we can solve this distance, this separate life. All possible solutions have shown that it is necessary to change and start somewhere else. In the meantime, it was also not inconsiderable to the decision that we did not get along well with the ward leadership and, as I have seen over the past year and a half, they did not care about my success or my work. My job as a pastor will be terminated from 1 July in Felsőrákos and I will be working somewhere in Székelykeresztúr, but at least we will be together with Orsolya. I made this decision with a heavy heart, but it was necessary and I wanted to inform you about it.
Isten áldjon,
Zalán és Orsolya
We thank both of them for their active participation in the partnership, joining in our services and sending many photos of their activities. We wish them well in this new venture.
We have learned from the former minister, Rev. József Kotecz that the church will ask the Unitarian Bishop to choose a minister for them in lieu of another ministerial search. We know this is a difficult time, and our hearts are with the congregation as they heal and begin again. We continue in friendship with them.
