For October, Meaningful Movies Spokane is co-sponsoring Making a Killing: Guns, Greed and the NRA, a documentary that exposes how powerful gun companies and the NRA resist responsible legislation for the sake of profit. Based on personal stories of victims and survivors the film portrays unintentional shootings, domestic violence, suicides, mass shootings, and gun trafficking. The film also suggests sensible measures to prevent further gun violence and tragedy.

First Church Seattle’s Church & Society/Social Justice Committee is hosting a discussion of the movie on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at noon. Please join us on Zoom for the 1-hour discussion of gun violence and legislative efforts in Washington State to prevent it. Speakers include the following:
- Margaret Heldring, Acting Chair of Grandmothers Against Gun Violence (www.grandmothersagainstgunviolence.org), and
- Washington State Senator David Frockt, 46th Legislative District – Seattle, who is a leading champion of common-sense gun reforms in Washington.
