Our special collection for the month of December will be for three downtown ministries: Women’s Hearth, Burritos for the People, and Shalom Ministries.
In the past, the December Special Collection has been designated for the Minister’s Sharing Fund, also known as the Minister’s Discretionary Fund. Todd said he has sufficient funds at this time.
The Women’s Hearth provides snacks and limited meals year-round with a very small food budget. During the holidays they provide a special meal and celebration event in December. They rely on monetary donations to make this event a reality. For many of the participants, this celebration is the highlight of the season.
Burritos for the People, an outreach program of SCAR, provides a no-cost 1lb gourmet burrito, coffee, juice, water, and trash pick-up in the area around our burrito stand every Sunday. Help us leave the area cleaner than when we arrived, pass out burritos, engage with the community, and serve the under-served. For more information, you can talk with Peggy Eklof who volunteers with Burritos for the People.
Since 1994, Shalom’s Dining with Dignity has been serving fresh hot meals prepared in their kitchen, 5,127 meals in June alone, reaching many of Spokane’s homeless and poor. Some walk great distances, having not had a nourishing meal for two or more days.
If this ministry speaks to you, we invite you to give generously.
If you’d like to contribute to this special collection, you may do so when it is announced during services, mail a check to the church (4340 West Whistalks Way, Spokane, WA 99224) or donate online. Be sure to note in the memo section that your contribution is for the December special collection.
Take me to the online donation page.
Thanks again for your kindness and generosity!
