A round of congratulations goes to UUCS member Dan Eacret for winning First Prize in this year’s Spokane Watercolor Society competition. Dan’s painting, Quiet City, was displayed at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture this spring in the 2023 national juried show.
Dan’s roots are in Montana. He says his inspiration came from that state’s Big Sky vistas, and he loves watercolor for its fluidity and rich natural textures. Earlier in life, he painted for his own pleasure and concentrated more fully on painting after retirement.
Dan is a member of the Northwest Watercolor Society in Seattle and the Spokane Watercolor Society. His paintings are in private collections nationally and he was represented by a Kirkland gallery for several years. He has also demonstrated watercolor technique at the Bellevue Museum of Art and worked with the curator at the MAC to design the Taos painters show.
In his career, Dan worked in industrial design, facilities planning and design consulting for several large firms. He retired from Boeing and had his own consulting firms in Spokane and Newport Beach, Calif.
His education includes degrees from Montana State and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
