Our special collection for the month of October will be for Transitions. Transitions is a local not-for-profit working to end poverty and homelessness for women and children in Spokane.
They operate programs designed to support our community by providing housing, job training, and friendly, safe spaces. Programs under the Transitions umbrella include Women’s Hearth, Miryam’s House, Transitional Living Center, Home Yard Cottages and New Leaf Vocational Services.
From job training to transitional and permanent supportive housing to a downtown daytime shelter space, Transitions’ programs offer crucial support services. Their daytime shelter, The Women’s Hearth, provides a safe space downtown offering welcoming and stabilizing resources such as showers, hygiene products, food, housing case management and connections to healthcare, substance use treatment and mental health services.
With Miryam’s House and TLC, Transitions provides transitional housing spaces for single women and families exiting homelessness and focuses on building a sense of home and community connection with on-site case management providing pathways toward permanent housing solutions.
Home Yard Cottages is a community of 24 energy-efficient cottages offering permanent housing with support for individuals and families. New Leaf Vocational Services program fosters the skills and confidence needed to achieve self-sufficiency in adults and youth with barriers to traditional employment. You can support trainees in action at their two cafés locations in the downtown library and the YMCA.
This local organization cannot do this important work without the support of the Spokane community. Caring for our most vulnerable women and families is something that we are all accomplishing together. Thank you so much for all of your ongoing support!
If this ministry speaks to you we invite you to give generously.
