Socrates (according to Plato), said, “No person knowingly does evil,” meaning it is our nature to want to be good. Yet people believing themselves to be good, even righteous, have often been responsible for all manners of evil. So how do we know the difference between right and wrong? We can’t! Not with any certainty, no matter how certain we feel. The real question, however, isn’t “how do we know,” but “how do we decide?” In this sermon we’ll consider how to become an ethical person, even if it means a lifetime of dealing with this unceasing question.
