Jacob Johns: Rediscovering Hope through Evolving Multilateralism

Jacob Johns – (Akimel O’odham / Hopi) is an International environmental systems strategist and multidisciplinary artist working to address global environmental issues through policy, culture, and community-based solutions.  For the past four years, Jacob has spearheaded A Wisdom Keepers Delegation—a coalition of Indigenous knowledge holders and ancestral wisdom practitioners working to transform international climate policy while cultivating ethical leadership among global stakeholders. Jacob’s approach centers on dismantling systemic inequities by developing regenerative frameworks that replace exploitative systems with models prioritizing ecological balance, intergenerational justice, and collective well being. Grounded in cultural heritage, Jacob works to integrate traditional knowledge and ancient wisdom into global climate spaces, demonstrating how grassroots leadership can shape practical, long-term solutions globally. Jacob’s work exemplifies how traditional Indigenous epistemologies can inform contemporary climate solutions, merging policy innovation with artistic expression to shift societal values toward sustainable coexistence.

Ross Carper: Hospitality at the Table: How to Help our Immigrant Neighbors Now

In this guest presentation, Ross Carper, Co-Founder of Feast World Kitchen, will discuss the hardships facing immigrants and refugees in Spokane. This panel presentation will discuss the ways Feast World Kitchen, through its Chef Partners Program and Table Time, support immigrants and refugees who are working very hard to learn English, gain employment, and stabilize their lives. Ross writes: “Our immigrant communities are full of talents, skills, and resilience they want to use and share. When they are empowered to do so, they can help themselves and their families – and they enrich the entire community of Spokane.” The special collection for February will benefit Feast World Kitchen’s emergency fund, which assists immigrants and refugees with housing and medical emergencies, and short term educational supports.

Edward “Eddie” Tabash: Separation of Church and State Requires Equal Rights for Everyone, Including Atheists

Eddie Tabash, a constitutional lawyer in Los Angeles and 29 year member of the Board of Trustees of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, will join us in person to share his expertise in demonstrating how the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, particularly the First Amendment, was intentionally designed by the Framers to require equal rights for atheists. He’ll discuss how this perspective leads to the truth that no branch of government is permitted to favor believers over non-believers. Tabash’s goal is to secure a society in which believers and non- believers are equal under the law.
