Our special collection for the month of February will be for will be for Feast World Kitchen. This has been a difficult year for our immigrant and refugee neighbors in Spokane. Even the majority who have documentation are still in fear of losing their status here, of families being divided, and of unnecessary legal actions and detentions. During these past two years, basic costs of living have risen and have outstripped minimum wages. Feast World Kitchen, through its Chef Partners Program, Table Time, and Emergency Fund, supports immigrants and refugees who are working very hard to learn English, gain employment, and stabilize their lives. The challenges of daily life, learning new systems and a new culture, communicating with limited English, navigating a new city, often without a car, are exhausting. Nevertheless, our immigrant communities are full of talents, skills, and resilience they want to use and share. When they are empowered to do so, they can help themselves and their families – and they enrich the entire community of Spokane.
One of the ways our congregation can help our immigrant and refugee neighbors is by contributing to Feast World Kitchen’s emergency fund, which assists families with short-term emergency needs, including medical and housing emergencies, and short-term educational supports to help students stay in school. Short term immediate assistance can help them from sliding into homelessness and despair.
If you’d like to contribute to this special collection, you may do so when it is announced during services on the third Sunday of the month, by mailing a check to the church (4340 West Whistalks Way, Spokane, WA 99224) or by donating online at the church website. Be sure to note in the memo section that your contribution is for the special collection.

Thanks again for your kindness and generosity!
