There have been few, if any, generations in modern history who have felt mostly positive about the direction the world is heading, even though the world, by many markers, continues to improve. We are pessimistic creatures by nature. Today, many feel things are worse than ever before and hold little hope for the future. But what if the greatest reason for such despondency, anxiety, and pessimism is because the world as we know it is already passing away and something new and better is emerging behind it? What if our hopelessness is itself in response to a subconscious sense that something major has shifted, the world is no longer the same, urging us to adapt our mindsets and our societies to this new reality?
