Liberal religion in North America has struggled to thrive, and sometimes just to survive, since its arrival more than 200 years ago. Today, liberal religion, as we know it, manifested in the Unitarian Universalists Association and its member congregations, is going the way of the Dodo. The Association’s irrational, authoritarian, and intolerant leadership is now openly working to eliminate the cherished Seven Principle’s from its bylaws, principles some of them claim are rooted in white supremacy. As difficult a topic as this is, it is our responsibility as Unitarian Universalists to be informed about these proposed changes and their implications for our religion, our congregation, and our world.
