Our species has biologically and neurologically evolved to be on the lookout for danger. Hence, we tend to be pessimistic about the future (and the present, for that matter). We see the terrible impacts of global warming, the devastating wars and violence in the world, the incivility within our own communities, and we can’t help but feel ours is the worst of times, and that the future only spells doom. In this sermon, we’ll consider why the opposite is true; that, despite all our challenges, the world is better than ever and will only continue to improve.
