A large segment of our society believes we ought to outlaw things like gay marriage, teaching evolution in our schools, reproductive freedom for women, and Islam altogether, because, they say, ours was founded as a Christian nation. Others counter this just isn’t so because most our founders were more interested in creating a society free from the tyranny of religion. I would argue, more simply, ours isn’t a Christian nation because we don’t follow Jesus.
