Speaker: John Trombold
John Trombold is a Spokane resident who administers the Nextdoor group Electrify Spokane, which focuses on electric vehicle adoption and home electrification. These interests arise from a recognition of climate change and the need for ordinary people to take action in ways that will, in total, affect the consumer markets driving the necessary energy transition. He is influenced by Saul Griffith’s book, Electrify Everything, and such organizations as Rewiring America.
Trombold has served as a professor of English at North Idaho College for sixteen years. He earned a Ph.D. in English at Columbia University after graduating from the University of Washington and Reed College. He drives an electric vehicle and has installed solar panels and a heat pump (along with an induction stove) in his home that he shares with his wife, Brent Davies, and his teenage sons, Charlie and Ben.
In this guest presentation, John Trombold, an English professor at North Idaho college and administrator of Electrify Spokane, will discuss electric vehicles, their challenges politically, and their advantages ecologically.
