UU Women’s Retreat
It’s About Time
UUCS Women’s Retreat
September 28-30, 2018
On the last weekend of September, Unitarian Universalist Women will take time to relax and connect with old friends and new, listen to each other’s stories, honor elders and gain inspiration from the voices of young women. What began decades ago with a few women camping in the woods has evolved to welcome about 80-90 women from the Spokane UU church as well as churches and fellowships in other parts of Washington state and Montana.
This year’s retreat theme, “It’s About Time”, will encourage campers to take time for themselves, for each other, and for our world. Isabel Call, the new intern minister for UUCS will provide the Sunday morning worship focusing on the inspiring voices of the young women among us.
Friday evening activities are planned to encourage campers to get to know each other. The social hour before dinner and short activity after dinner give campers an opportunity to share in smaller groups. The sing-along that ends the first night often proves to be a highlight of the weekend for many women.
Saturday presents opportunities to participate in a variety of workshops ranging from rock painting to dancing. There are workshops with an introspective tone such as poetry and credo writing. Meditative offerings include yoga and qigong. Of course, campers are free to read, chat, knit, do puzzles, walk the beach, canoe or do absolutely nothing for the entire day if they so choose! It’s your time!
On Saturday we take time to honor an Elder Wise-Woman, share our talents at the evening talent show and dance our socks off at the Forrester Hall dance. You’ll see women sporting everything from pajamas to boas for the evening festivities.
Take time this fall to join with other women at the UUCS Women’s Retreat.
