The COVID-19 lockdown, combined with the proliferation of Zoom, has opened up endless possibilities for new affiliations outside normal geographic boundaries. Mike was initially drawn to UUCS after hearing of problems within the UUA highlighted by its banning of Todd’s book. Then, when Mike learned of its rich humanist history, he decided to seek virtual membership in addition to maintaining his existing NC UU affiliation. He was extremely active there, having served on the Board of the Church, the Open Door School, and recently chaired the Endowment Trust.
As for his background, Mike has spent a lifetime as an independent investment analyst, mostly exploring alternative investing or speculation. Besides being a technology/internet addict, he enjoys playing tennis and anything on or near the water. After 40 years of Catholicism, he and his wife Heather switched to UU for the last 30 years. They have 2 daughters and one granddaughter.
