Please join us for Nasrin, our February Meaningful Movie, which we will be showing in person (!) at UUCS, as well as online.
Filmed in Iran by women and men who risked arrest to make this film, Nasrin is a portrait of the world’s most honored human rights activist and political prisoner, attorney Nasrin Sotoudeh, and of Iran’s remarkably resilient women’s rights movement. In the courts and on the streets, Nasrin has long fought for the rights of women, children, LGBTQ prisoners, religious minorities, journalists, artists and those facing the death penalty.
In the midst of filming, Nasrin was arrested in June 2018 for representing women who were protesting Iran’s mandatory hijab law and sentenced in 2019 to 38 years in prison, plus 148 lashes. She is currently on medical furlough from prison.
Join us at UUCS in the chapel, or email us at meaningfulmoviesspokane@gmail.com if you would like to join us online. We will send you a Zoom link and link to watch the movie prior to the discussion. The discussion will start at 8:15 p.m. via Zoom.
