Are you interested in actual solutions to Spokane’s homelessness crisis?

Please join the Spokane Alliance for an important action at UUCS on May 2, 2024 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

In 2020, the Spokane Alliance organized to win funding for affordable homes by helping pass the HB1590 Housing Levy in the Washington Legislature, a 0.01% local-option sales tax with funds dedicated to new housing, and convinced city officials to use the taxing authority here. Now, $14.5 million has accumulated in the local housing fund, but most of the money hasn’t been spent and is at risk due to the city’s large budget shortfall.

Please join us as we ask Mayor Lisa Brown, City Council President Betsy Wilkerson and other city leaders to commit to releasing these funds through an RFP process, with emphasis on projects that address the legacy of housing discrimination in Spokane.

Take me to the RSVP page for this event.

The UUCS – Spokane Alliance Team will be reaching out to church members in the next few weeks to ensure our church is well represented at the action, which is expected to bring more than 200 people to our church.
