Our special collection for the month of September will be for Transitions. Transitions is a local not-for-profit working to end poverty and homelessness for women and children in Spokane.
For more than 40 years,
Transitions has helped women and children in Spokane move toward safety, stability, and hope through compassionate, trauma informed care. Through several programs, Transitions offers support with housing, daytime services, job training, advocacy and community partnerships. Programs under the Transitions umbrella include Women’s Hearth, Miryam’s House, Transitional Living Center, Home Yard Cottages and New Leaf Vocational Services.
This is work that they cannot do without the support of the Spokane community, including our church. Caring for our most vulnerable women and families is something that we are accomplishing together. Over the years UUCS members and friends have provided in kind support with hygiene product drives, meals, clothing and through our patronage at the New Leaf coffee shops at the YWCA and downtown library. Each year we also offer our financial support through a special collection to further the mission of Transitions to support women and children experiencing homelessness in their journey toward stability.
If this ministry speaks to you we invite you to give generously.
If you’d like to contribute to this special collection, you may do so when it is announced during services on the third Sunday of the month, by mailing a check to the church (4340 West Whistalks Way, Spokane, WA 99224) or by donating online at the church website.
