During the end-of-year holidays, many of us contribute to our favorite charities and to other organizations — including our own Endowment Fund, dedicated to the future of our church.
Your Endowment Team is pleased to report that our fund has grown robustly under the management of the Seattle Foundation, and is now approaching $1 million. If market trends hold, that means we’ll be able to contribute even more to the UUCS operating fund next year — a pattern that has held firm for the past six years.
A brief history
- In 1990, our fund had a modest balance of around $10,000. It grew to over $100,000 by the end of that decade due to generous gifts from two members.
- After doubling in 2011, Endowment Team volunteers determined it was large enough to need professional management, initially through the Unitarian Universalist Common Endowment Fund (UUCEF) in Boston.
- In 2020, your Endowment Team began a process to move our funds out of UUCEF After a lengthy search of potential investment fund managers, we chose the Seattle Foundation in 2022.
UUCS members and friends can donate directly to the Endowment, contribute a gift in memory of one of our deceased members, or donate stock or distributions from IRA accounts. Future gifts from your estate are another way to support the fund.
Legacy Society membership honors are extended to those who make a current gift of $1,000 or more and/or who make a future gift through estate documents.
