January Special Collection

Our focus this month will be on the homeless. We have selected four organizations that provide needed resources for our community members who do not have permanent shelter. There is also a donation box at the church, so if you can’t donate money you can participate that way.

The bin will be at the entrance of the church for donations. Rebecca will put it out at 10 a.m. Monday through Thursday and bring it in each day at 2 p.m.

Hope House is an emergency residential shelter for women. It housed 328 women so far this year.
Crosswalk serves teens up to 18 that live on the streets. They provide overnight shelter as well as services during the day to help them find a stable living situation.
Shalom Ministries has Dining with Dignity and provides 50,000 meals a year and is a critical safety net for the homeless or hungry.
Stevens Elementary school is an important provider of education and resources for children.

In addition to financial donations, the following new or gently used things are needed:

  • men’s, women’s, and children’s (K – 6) winter coats
  • blankets
  • sweat pants
  • boots
  • gloves
  • hand warmers
  • individually packaged snacks
  • grab and go meals that are shelf stable
  • sleeping bags
  • tarps
  • hygiene products

If anyone likes to sew contact Pam Davies, (509) 714-0531 for easy projects to help the homeless keep warm.

You can mail a check (include “Special Collection 1/17/2021” on the memo line) to the church (4340 Whistalks Way 99224) or you can donate online.

You can donate without logging in. Don’t forget to include 1/17/2021 in the special collection date field of the form in the general donation payments section of the form.
