As your Music Director I have always felt that a big part of my job here is to foster musicians in the congregation—not necessarily to use my job as a platform for my own performances. And yet, with COVID-19, I have been “breaking my own rule” so to speak by doing just that! Many of our congregational musicians either have not been vaccinated yet or are still hesitant about being in the Sanctuary with six or seven other people. And I have hesitated to bring in Spokane musicians from our larger community. (We were able to have the Weddle Twins perform—by  recording—on our March 28 service, which was a relief and a pleasure for me!) So you have heard a lot from me of late, which makes me somewhat uncomfortable, even though I have enjoyed doing the pieces and other aspects of this last three months.

This coming Sunday, Easter and our the kickoff to our annual Stewardship Campaign, you’ll get a “double dose” of Jacquemin—my sister Wendy will be joining me to do a duet of Pennies From Heaven. I am really looking forward to this personally, as my sister has a degree in vocal performance and we are almost never able to sing together as she lives in Manhattan Beach, CA.  As much as I hope you enjoy us, I do want you to know that I am actively working to get other voices and instruments in here to give you the variety you deserve.  Hopefully, as time moves on this will not be so difficult!

In the meantime, have a Happy Easter!!
