Bringing Up Our Brainchild: Real Life and the Omnipotence of Thought

In Greek mythology, Zeus gives birth to Athena from his forehead. Some of us do seem to love our ideas as if they were our own children. We protect them and want to see them grow up to flourish. But children are born of flesh and blood from a mother’s womb, not from our heads. Often the ideas we hold most dear don’t represent reality either. In this sermon we’ll consider the powerful hold our ideas have on us and our need to sometimes let them go in order to get real.
