Although it’s not precisely what he said, Winston Churchill is often quoted as saying, “Democracy is the worst form of Government except for all the others.” Today we take our Democracy for granted and most of us think we know what democracy is and should look like. But those most responsible for establishing the modern world’s first Democracy weren’t so sure and often disagreed. In this sermon we’ll look at what some of them thought a democracy should be, in order to better understand our own and to consider how it might be improved.
