From Strict Creed to Shared Values: The Origins and Evolution of Our Seven Principles

In attempting to explain what Unitarian Universalism is about, many these days might turn to our Seven Principles. But these principles, some of which are more memorable than others, weren’t adopted until the mid-1980s. Their origins can be traced all the way back to the Nicene Creed and earlier attempts to clarify how Unitarians and Universalists differ from other religions.
