Gravity keeps us from floating away into space but is not strong enough to prevent us from lifting our legs. Humans have always imagined powerful gods in charge of destiny but, in light of all the suffering in the world, if they exist at all they must be weaker even than gravity. In this sermon we’ll consider the Problem of God, which is the existence of evil, and what it might mean for some of our other assumptions about the magical nature of the universe.
