John Dietrich’s Sermon: “Do We Need a New Moral Outlook?” – As Presented and Amended by Rev. Eklof

Rev. John H. Deitrich, our Spokane congregation’s minister from 1911 to 1916, went on to become known as the Father of Religious Humanism. In his wish to reawaken us to this seminal figure’s relevance today, Rev. Eklof continues his series of occasionally reworking and delivering some of Dietrich’s historic sermons. In this particular sermon, Dietrich explores the basis of being “good without God.” Today, as in 1922 when it was first delivered, church attendance everywhere is in decline. In such an age, particularly and age of science and reason, Dietrich contemplates our moral impetus for doing good.
