Misappropriation or Mongrelization? Why I Choose the Latter

Many today believe it’s wrong for people with different identities to borrow from other cultures, particularly from those that have been historically marginalized. To avoid doing so, however, requires members of the human family to segregate based upon the very differences we’ve been struggling to overcome for hundreds of years. The idea of misappropriation is too often puritanical in its effort to draw clear lines between us and leads to unnatural, inhuman, and impossible social expectations.
