Guest speaker Alyx Franz, the volunteer manager and resource navigator at Our Place Community Outreach Center, will discuss the work of the center that has provided basic needs two days a week through free food distribution, a hygiene, clothing, and housewares bank, and a free laundromat since 1987. Ms. Franz writes: “We strongly believe in and adhere to a transformational, versus transactional, approach to providing these services, as well as presenting a service structure that allows our neighbors to pick and choose their items. As community needs arise and dissolve, we adapt, with the help of a huge volunteer base and ever-revolving partners and donors.”
