Dr. Larry Cebula will be speaking about monument removals, including a statue honoring John Monaghan that stands in front of the Spokane club, and renaming things. We are in the middle of a revolution in the understanding of local history. An explosion of accessible primary sources, a growing professionalization of the field, and a national racial reckoning are remaking our understanding of our communities and ourselves. Larry Cebula, a professor at EWU, will talk about the revolution with examples from his projects Spokane Historical and Racial Covenants.
