During his final service with us before his unexpected death, church member Owen Muir asked me, “Instead of answering our questions, what question would you like to ask us?” It was a good question and took me a few moments to ponder. I finally responded, “Why are you here?” Given all the stress in our world, in our community, recent changes and conflicts in our church, all the religious choices there are, I think it’s a question that deserves deeper consideration, and I appreciate Owen gifting us with it as his final act at UUCS.
