Speaker: Jim Kershner

Jim Kershner is the author of “Carl Maxey: A Fighting Life,” published by the University of Washington Press, which was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award in 2009. Mr. Kershner was a columnist and reporter for 25 years at The Spokesman-Review and retired (mostly) in 2011. He still writes the paper’s daily history column. He is also a staff historian at HistoryLink.org, the Online Encyclopedia of Washington State History, where he has written more than 250 historical essays. Mr. Kershner has written eight books, including “Transit: The Story of Public Transportation in the Puget Sound Region,” and “The Sound of Spokane: A History of the Spokane Symphony.”
